Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant. Founded in 1997 by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne, Kosta Browne is located in Sebastopol, Sonoma County. The company, which has been collaborating with Chris Costello and his family since 2001, is renowned for its production of high-quality wines, from some of the most coveted vineyards in the Russian River Valley. The team includes renowned winemaker Julien Howsepian. The Chardonnay grapes are sourced from a series of vineyards located in the cooler areas of the Russian River Valley, where they benefit from the marine influence that travels from the coast to the hinterland following the Russian River. These microclimatic conditions favor lower night temperatures and the development of a good acid vein in the grapes. Fermentation takes place in casks or foudres to add depth to the wine. The finished wine is then aged in a mix of different casks to promote greater complexity and structure in the final blend. The One Sixteen Chardonnay shows a fragrant aromatic profile with delicious notes of citrus fruits, ripe peach, pear and pineapple followed by floral hints and light nuances of vanilla and almond. On the palate, the wine is fresh and lively, with a marked acidity. It has a good body but is also fragrant and lean. The finish is long and juicy. Try it with veal or shellfish.
