Around 200,000 years ago a volcano erupted in the Mexican region of Jalisco, blanketing the area in volcanic ash. Turns out that this is the perfect soil base for growing prized blue agave – which is exactly why Volcan pays homage to the volcano in its name and on its label. The lightly aged Reposado begins with 100% blue agave spirit from the Jalisco highlands, which is then rested for 135 days in new American and European oak casks. As well as slight colour, this brings in complex notes of toasted tobacco to meet fruity aromas of blackcurrant, red apple and ripe peach. Dried-fruit, honey and nut flavours show through too, all the way to the smooth finish.
